I was watching Jasmine Star's photography workshop on Creative Live recently and while doing so I opened up a container of chocolate nibs I'd received as a gift. Inside I was surprised to find a 'fortune'. As I pulled the little slip of paper out of the box it was one of those moments where everything comes together. All ideas seem to line up and for a split second everything becomes clear. It felt to me like Life had hit the 'pause' button and then looked me straight in the eye while saying "Pay attention to this, there's a lesson for you here."
I want those moments. Not only do I want them, I think I need them. Do I listen? Do I act on the insight I am given? Do I learn what I am supposed to? Do I make the changes I so obviously need to make? Not always, but I'm trying to remedy that. It may seem silly to believe that a random offering of insight and advice could be at all useful but here's the thing; it doesn't matter that it's random and co-incidental and a little bit hokey. What matters is that it is true, it is applicable to me and I recognize it as useful.
